Nathanielsz Blunders, Fails to Sustain Points in Series of ABS-CBN Salvos Against Pacquiao

MALICIOUS and deceitful, ABS-CBN's so-called expert analyst Ronnie Nathanielsz blundered his way into bashing Manny Pacquiao, from Sunday onwards and announced in front of national TV his opinion that the Filipino champion lost the fight against Juan Manuel Marquez.
For whatever motives rival TV network ABS-CBN had in mind in airing a series of scathing attacks using the veritable attack dog Nathanielsz, who in the past had an axe to grind against Pacquiao, nothing concrete and substantial came out of their biased, opinionated and so-called expert analysis of the post-fight drama. Pacquiao has shows in rival TV station GMA-7.
Other than add confusion and division to another very close fight that ended in a majority decision win for Pacquiao, ABS-CBN news host Karen Davila of Headstart failed to ask the right questions to elicit the right answers. "Did Manny Pacquiao really win that fight against Juan Manuel Marquez?" Her questions to another reporter went: "How is Manny Pacquiao? Does it seem to be a regular win to him?
The so-called veteran Nathanielsz lost all sense of the precepts of sportsmanship and showed utter disrespect to the judges' decision as final and unappealable. He also dispelled punch statistics "CompuBox" as something man-made and could have been wrong, too. Pacquiao had thrown more punches and connected more but Nathanielsz brushed them off as if they were just made to justify a win from a loss. The three judges who scored the match were the three people closest to the action. They saw, heard and witnessed everything that transpired in the ring. They saw Pacquiao's ring generalship in rounds which could have gone either way, subjectively. Nathanieslz, who was not even close to the ring as he was somewhere in the Philippines, saw things differently, though, and protested like he was God's gift to boxing.
Nathanielsz, in the past, had a falling out with Pacquiao, himself, and his wife Jinkee, after writing a series of inaccurate articles full of innuendoes, with Nathanielsz even quoting Jinkee in an apparent interview that never happened. He fabricated stories and has been singled out by Pacquiao, himself, for doing sinister acts in journalism.
Starting on June 22, 2004 and thereafter, Nathanielsz also blasted Pacquiao in a series of articles written in the Manila Standard and www.boxingscene.com for apparently making wrong career decisions among many other flawed reasons. Nathanielsz was closely linked and had a deep friendship with Pacquiao's estranged former promoter Murad Muhammad, whom he defended to high heavens. Pacquiao sued Muhammad in New York for money that was apparently stolen from him. Muhammad had to settle out of court and has not since promoted a major name in boxing even as Nathanielsz tried vainly to defend him to the bitter end. Should the anomalous transactions by Pacquiao's former manager and promoter have not been exposed, and things have not changed to this very day, Nathanielsz could have easily become Pacquiao's top media guy and adviser. Nathanielsz was then very active in trying to keep the status quo and have Muhammad stay on as Pacquiao's promoter.
Pacquiao was once quoted in the past as saying: ?I know Nathanielsz has his own loyalties with other people but it is my fervent hope that he adheres to the professional ethics of journalism,? said Manny Pacquiao in Tagalog. ?If he is truly a Filipino at heart, then he should show it. He should get his facts straight, in the first place. That is very important, especially for a writer like him.? Nathanielsz, a Sri Lankan national, was gifted Filipino citizenship by the former president Ferdinand Marcos, and worked as Marcos's henchman in media, attacking among others, Ninoy Aquino, the father of Philippine president Noynoy Aquino in a live TV show.
Nathanielsz has not wavered. In ABS-CBN's latest sets of capers, Nathanielsz, reporting from a room in Manila's studios, used second-hand information and hearsay to bash Pacquiao's current entourage and dismal performance. Nathanielsz singled out the people who are currently around the eight-time, eight-division champion, as sources of distraction while failing to state that these same people have tried to shield the multitudes from having Pacquiao concentrate and prepare for a fight for the past seven years.
Since his split from promoter Muhammad and his former manager, Pacquiao has won 15 straight and has garnered six more major belts in six different weight divisions. Nathanielsz tried to create a picture that Pacquiao's distractions stems out from his entourage, people who play cards, drink and steal off him. He specifically skipped the fact that this was Pacquiao's own way of relaxing. He twitted Pacquiao for attending and juggling his endorsement deals and in Congressional duties instead of just resting. He just made an ass out of himself by saying that there was drinking during training camp. There is no alcohol during any stage of pre-fight training.

Appearing self-righteous and infallible, Nathanielsz added that he had Marquez winning by one or two points, an obvious sign that he did not use a scorecard or score the fight round per round or failed to actually score rightfully using the "10-point must scoring" system. In a 10-point must scoring system, judges choose a winner in every round and give the winner of that particular round 10 points. The loser gets nine points unless there are further deductions. Deductions include knockdowns and illegal boxing moves. No deductions or knockdowns happened during the fight. Hence, Marquez could never win by ONE point using the "10-point must scoring" system, refuting the aging Nathanielsz.
Nathanielsz found the scoring 116-112 as ridiculous, not really acknowledging that in a 10-point must scoring, judges would see the fight as even, six rounds to six rounds, or seven rounds to five rounds or eight rounds to four rounds, as in the case in this match.

Nathanielsz pointed out a rift between Pacquiao and strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza but failed to add that the two have patched things out just a few hours after the incident.
In another analysis bordering from stupid and pointless, Nathanielsz thought and believed that Marquez's muscle build-up was the cause why Marquez did not even wince when he got hit, that he was not even hurt at any stage in the fight when he got hit. He also noted that that shocked Pacquiao no end. According to the ABS-CBN source, Pacquiao's power was non-existent. Nathanieslz pointed out that Pacquiao's timing, balance and punching was off as he was cramping, wondering how Pacquiao came out victorious.
Still, despite all their claims, ABS-CBN and Nathanielsz failed miserably to clearly justify their stand that Pacquiao lost the fight for lack of objective reporting.
