Just moments ago, undefeated Rodel Mayol underwent a WBC-mandated medical test at a local hospital in Tokyo, prior to his May 6 bout with WBC minimumweight champ Eagle Kyowa.
Mayol was accompanied to the medical testing by trainer Brix Flores, and a staff of Yasuo Matsuoka, Mayol's manager.
According to Mayol, he took a CT Scan test, X-ray, as well as urine and blood tests.
Meanwhile, fight fans have started sending in questions for Mayol, which were promptly answered by the undefeated Filipino boxer:
FROM DINO MARAGAY:
***Would you mind making a prediction of your upcoming title showdown with Eagle Kyowa?
MAYOL: My prediction is this: Somebody is definitely going to kiss the canvas, its going to be him or me because I will really do my best for this fight.
MARAGAY: If you're successful in wresting the WBC minimumweight crown from Eagle Kyowa next week, would you consider a unification fight with current WBO minimumweight champion Ivan "Iron Boy" Calderon? How do you see yourself matching up with Calderon's slick style?
MAYOL: Yes, i'm willing to have a unification fight with him if I win my fight with Kyowa. I really want to know who is the best in my division.
MARAGAY: Considering that Calderon is probably the only biggest fight you have next to Kyowa (at minimumweight), would you consider jumping to another division? If so, what division that would be and who would you like to fight there?
MAYOL: Yes, I'd like to move up to junior flyweight (108 lbs) and fight the WBA champ (Roberto Vasquez), not the WBC champ because Brian Viloria is a Filipino like me.
MARAGAY: Do you plan to unify all four major titles (WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO)?
MAYOL: I have no idea yet, I hope to answer that question after my fight with Kyowa.
FROM RUFFY TANGOAN:
I would like to ask Mayol what are his thoughts on alleged Japan's biased officiating. What are his plans in connection with this? Will he try to really go for the KO or just play his A game and if the oppurtunity comes go for the kill?
MAYOL: Sir, all the judges of my fight are all Americans. But if there is an opportunity to KO of course i will go for the kill to prevent hometown decision.
(You may send your questions to salven2judge@yahoo.com, and they will be relayed to Rodel Mayol)
