Former WBC superfly champ Gerry Penalosa will now take on Mexican southpaw Tomas Rojas in a battle of two explosive bangers underneath the Manny Pacquiao-Oscar Larios scrap on July 2.
Penalosa, in an interview this morning, informed that his upcoming bout with Rojas will be an exciting one, considering that Rojas is younger at 25 and much taller at 5'8 1/2.
The Veracruz, Mexico native Rojas has a record of 22-7 with 14 KO's, and is the former IBA flyweight champ and Mexican superfly title-holder.
The bout will serve as the chief undercard to Pacquiao-Larios, as organizers plan to make the Penalosa-Rojas battle a 12-round affair.
Rojas had knocked out former world champ Isaac Bustos, and showed great stamina in lasting the distance against former world champ Rosendo Alvarez.
Penalosa, the reigning WBF superfly champ, holds a 49-5-2, 33 KO's card and is coming off a unanimous decision win over Feliciano Dario Azuaga of Paraguay last December 10.
