Pungluang Sor Singyu retained his WBO Asia-Pacific Youth bantamweight title by defeating Filipino challenger Marvin Tampus via sixth round technical knockout today in Phetchaburi, Thailand.
It was a close combat in which both fighters exchanging heavy fire.
But in round six the Thai referee stopped all actions by recommendation of ring doctor due to a very swollen Tampus's right eye product of an unintentional headbutt.
The 23-year-old Pungluang Sor Singyu (37-1, 25KOs), displayed an accurate left jab, powerful left hook, composure under pressure and acceptable technique.
However, the young Thailander seem to lack creativity in his attacks and hasn't yet developed the art of dish out punches in combinations.
The young Pungluang is the world's #3 bantamweight by the WBO behind Abner Mares and Vic Darchinyan. The WBO bantamweight world champ is Filipino star Nonito Donaire Jr.
The Pungluang Sor Singyu vs Marvin Tampus WBO Asian Pacific Youth title card was organized by One Songchai Boxing Promotions.
Pungluang (L) and Tampus (R) during Tuesday's weighin.
