No sooner had the ink dried on reports that undefeated Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista will be facing Roberto Bonilla on May 20, than comes this breaking story that the Candijay, Bohol-raised fighter has now found a foe for his July 2 bout underneath the Manny Pacquiao-Oscar Larios tiff at the Araneta Coliseum.
Reports gathered by Philboxing.com have it that Bautista will take on a very dangerous 57-fight veteran Alejandro Felix Montiel on July 2, which is dubbed the 'Thrill in Manila II".
Montiel, who hails from Los Mochis, Mexico, has a record of 50 wins, only 7 losses, with 29 KO's. He is a former IBF flyweight title contender, and former IBA flyweight champ.
Montiel has battled some of the world's best, among them Jhonny Gonzalez, Vic Darchinyan, Irene Pacheco, and Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson.
"Yes, Bautista will be facing a tough Montiel on July 2 underneath Manny's fight," confirmed Eric Pineda, top man of the Manny Pacquiao Promotions, in an interview yesterday.
Pineda also added that the names of the opponents for Gerry Penalosa, Randy Suico and Jimrex Jaca will be available soon.
The three fighters, along with Bautista, will make up the strong undercard to the Philippines versus Mexico war on July 2.
