Two of Bohol?s pride are ready to invade the US fight scene in a Las Vegas boxing promotion slated on May 12, 2006 at the Orleans Hotel & Casino.
WBO Asia-Pacific Super Featherweight Champion Czar Amonsot will be having his US second fight in a ten-round contest while Candijay native Along Denoy will make his boxing debut in the US mainland in the same card against a still to be announced opponents.
Amonsot had won via unanimous decision over tough and durable Mexican, Christian Favela in his first stint in Vegas last February 3. Just recently, the Tagbilaran City native climbed the ring in a tune-up fight against Thailand?s Decho Bankluaygym last March 18, 2006 at the Mandaue Sports Complex and handily outpointed the Thai hitman over 10 rounds.
Denoy, on the other hand, is coming on the heels of a knockout victory against Jun Eraham last February 3, 2006 in a Manila fight card. Denoy overwhelmed the Manila-based journeyman Eraham before sending him to the canvas in the 6th round.
This will be another spectacular promotion by the US-based boxing outfit, Guilty Boxing. So impressed was Guilty Boxing president Nick Rattena of Czar Amonsot?s and OPBF Champion Z Gorres? performance last February 3, 2006 that the US firm wants more Filipino boxers to fight in their future promotions.
?Filipino boxers are in demand today in the US. We only heeded their (Guilty Boxing) request of bringing more Filipino boxers to the States since they saw how popular the boys were in their last fights there,? said international promoter, Sammy Gello-ani. The last showdown at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas drew a sold-out crowd that came out of the Mardi Gras Ballroom of the Orleans Casino clamoring for more Filipino fighters.
Denoy and Amonsot are set to leave in the last week of April to continue their training in the US, after undergoing tough build-up at the ALA Gym in Cebu.
