Undefeated ALA Boy Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista, who recently signed up with the Golden Boy Promotions of Oscar De la Hoya, will take on dangerous Mexican Hugo Dianzo in a non-title fight on May 20 on the undercard of the Marco Antonio Barrera-Rocky Juarez showdown at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Miguel Angel Gonzalez, in an interview with Notimex, informed that his ward is ready to take on the 19-year-old Bautista after his February 24 fight with ex-world champ Ivan Hernandez had been cancelled.
The May 20 event will be Bautista's first under the GBP banner, under whom he had signed up together with another ALA fighter Z "The Dream" Gorres.
The Bohol-raised Bautista (19-0, 14 KO's) holds the WBO Asia Pacific bantam title, but would most likely relinquish the belt as he now plans to campaign in the bigger superbantam class.
Considered as one of the country's most exciting fighters, Bautista is widely considered as the heir-apparent to Manny Pacquiao owing to his explosive and hold-no-prisoner fighting syle.
The 31-year-old Dianzo (31-11-1, 15 KO's), who hails from Mexico City, holds the WBC Mundo Hispano superbantam title, and enjoys tremendous advantage in terms of experience as he had waged wars with former world champs Paulie Ayala, Cruz Carbajal, Veerapol Sahaprom and Mauricio Martinez, all losing only by decisions.
