GELLO-ANI IS PROMOTER OF THE YEAR!

Oscar De la Hoya certainly did not make the wrong choice in hooking up with the ALA-SGG group, as the Elorde Banquet of Champions is poised to award Sammy "Don King" Gello-ani as its Promoter of the Year.
Liza Elorde informed this writer last week that Gello-ani, whose SGG Promotions serves as the local promotional arm of the ALA Boys, will receive the award at the Banquet of Champions of the sixth Gabriel "Flash" Elorde Memorial Awards on Mar. 25 at the Dusit-Hotel Nikko.
Gello-ani is a highly-respected boxing promoter, and considered the best in the business by many observers.
His latest event was last Saturday's Z Gorres-Waenpetch Chuwatana OPBF title showdown.
Gello-ani will join pound-for-pound superstar Manny Pacquiao, who will be given the Boxer of the Year accolade.
Other awardees of the Elorde Banquet of Champions include Rex "Wakee" Salud (Manager of the Year), Czar Amonsot (Most Promising Boxer), Ferdinand Estrella (Judge of the Year), Silvestre Abainza (Referee of the Year), and Restituto 'Buboy' Fernandez (Trainer of the Year).
The bout between Alex Escaner and Bernabe Concepcion was adjudged Best Fight of the Year.
