Filipino Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista has vowed to put the pressure when he meets former conqueror Heriberto Ruiz this Saturday for their much-awaited grudge rematch at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.
Bautista, in an appearance over popular radio program "Pinoy Boxing" over RMN-DyHP on Sunday, told listeners that if Ruiz thinks the same fighter who fought him previously will be fighting his this time, then the Mexican banger is in for the shock of his life.
"I am not the same fighter whom he headbutted, and who was not armed with two hands in our previous fight. Even if I was bloodied after that headbutt, I still fought my heart out," Bautista told Pinoy Boxing.
Asked as to his strategy for the fight, Bautista made a general statement, saying that he will keep the pressure on Ruiz, and will be in front of him all thoughout the 12-round contest.
Ruiz, accompanied by his father Jose Heriberto Ruiz and handler Francisco Dominguez, touched down last night in Cebu paving the way for this Saturday's grudge rematch to take place.
The Mexican fighter knocked downed and beat Bautista via unanimous decision the first time they fought in Las Vegas in 2008 in the Ricky Hatton vs Pauli Malignaggi undercard and is confident coming into this fight releasing a statement that he will shame Bautista anew but this time in front of his countrymen.
"Boom Boom should be man enought to accept defeat and avoid making excuses. He beat Alejandro Barrera but that fighter is not good. He is just living off the name of his famous cousin," stated Ruiz in an interview with Cebu-based Mexican Michael Lopez.
Another Mexican fighter Juan Carlos Gallegos planed in yesterday. Gallegos will face Filipino and WBO Youth Asia Pacific Light Welterweight Champion Jason Pagara who will be facing his first Mexican opponent to date.
The last of the foreign opponents to be featured on the Pinoy Pride 6: Grudge Rematch will be today. Undefeated Indonesian Champion Benja Loemoli is set to arrive on a Cebu Pacific flight. He will be facing former WBC Silver World Champion Edrin Dapudong in the main under card.
The featured foreign opponents for the June 11, 2011 boxing mega event will be featured in the Official PINOY PRIDE 6: GRUDGE REMATCH PUBLIC WORK-OUT at the Parkmall tomorrow at 5PM.
On Thursday, ALA Promotions will conduct the final press conference for the boxers and their respective teams, while the official weigh-in for the bout will be held at the SM City Cebu Activity Center on Friday at 11AM.
