In a show of camaraderie and support, WBO Asia-Pacific Bantamweight champion, Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista has returned to the country to be at ringside when his stablemate, the flashy Z Gorres attempts to wrest the prestigious OPBF Super Flyweight diadem on March 18, 2006 at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.
Not only will the teenaged boxing phenom Bautista be cheering for Gorres but for his provincemates as well as fellow Boholano and WBO Asia Pacific Superfeatherweight king Czar Amonsot will duke it out with Thai Decho Bankluaygym.in a 10-round non-title tiff while young ALA stalwart AJ Banal from Corilla, Bohol will climb the ring against another Thai boxer, Dechapol Bankluaygym.
In a boxing preview slated this March 9, Thursday, 5:30 pm at the Banilad Town Center Parking Area, boxing fans will get a glimpse of the highly anticipated boxing showdown on March 18 as Z ‘The Dream’ Gorres will trade mitts with RP No. 1 Robert Allanic in a no-holds barred sparring session. Czar Amonsot, on the other hand, will spar with Philippine Welterweight champ Dondon Sultan.
As an added attraction, young phenom Rey ‘Boom-Boom’ Bautista will climb the ring with SGG stable’s Pedro Malco in a rare ‘free-to-the-public’ boxing exhibition. This will be the first time the young champion has climbed after his courageous win over tough Mexican Gerardo Espinoza last December 23, 2006 at the Sycuan Resort and Casino in California, USA.
Other bouts will feature two other ALA stalwarts Rocky Fuentes and A.J. Banal against newby Ninolito Jalnaiz and Sherwin Paro.
Sponsored by the ALA Fight Club, owned and managed by the famous ALA Boxing Gym, this boxing showdown will also figure Fight Club members against their professional and amateur counterparts from the ALA gym.
