Filipino fight fans will now get the chance to see for themselves whether the Prince has what it takes to become the King when Solar Sports airs the world title bout featuring Davao's Diosdado "Prince" Gabi going up against International Boxing Federation flyweight king Vic Darchinyan in a 12-round war on March 3 (March 4 RP time) at the Chumash Casino Resort in Sta. Ynez, California, USA.

Michael Koncz, who now manages Gabi, informed this writer in an e-mail yesterday that everything is now green and go for Solar Sports' coverage of the fight, where the Freddie Roach-trained Gabi attempts to wrest the IBF 112-lb crown off the head of the heavy-puching Darchinyan.

Diosdado Gabi gets ready for a sparring session as trainer Freddie Roach gives him final instructions at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.

"I want to let you know that yesterday I reached an agreement with Solar Entertainment and Solar Sports and they will do a live satellite feed broadcast of Gabi's fight. Here in the USA the card takes place on Friday, March 3, 2006, with the first televised bout at 8 pm so I believe it will be 12 noon on Saturday when the telecast starts there in the Philippines," informed Koncz.

Koncz made the revelation following queries posted at the forum section of the world -renowned Mannypacquiao.ph and Philboxing.com websites, asking if the Gabi-Darchinyan fight will be aired live in the Philippines.

The southpaw and sweet-punching Gabi (27-2-1, 18 KO's) crosses paths with the undefeated Darchinyan (24-0, 19 KO's) in what is fast shaping up to be a clash between skills and power in the main event of a Shobox: The New Generation card.

"I feel I have good boxing ability and that is what I plan to (showcase) against Darchinyan. To stand and exchange would be a mistake. That’s what he wants. I am not a runner, but I am faster than he is. I plan to use my speed to give him angles. I want to be elusive and make him work to catch up to me," Gabi said.

“Darchinyan is very confident and already looking past me, but he has some weaknesses and technical flaws that I believe I can capitalize on. I am very comfortable with my strategy and confident in my ability to outbox him," he added.
