TALISAY CITY, CEBU -- Undefeated super lightweight Spaniard Felix Soria (10-0-1) from Palma de Mallorca, destroyed in explosive form his Filipino rival debutant Giovanni Rota in the undercard of the Jimrex Jaca vs Arnel Donal that was won by Jaca via 3rd round TKO at the Tabunok Sports Complex in Cebu Saturday night.
It was a powerful, accurate left hook to the liver that hurt Rota, sending him to the canvas in agony. So obvious was the damage that referee Tony Pensons immediately decreed the KO at 2:03 minutes of the first stanza.
This was Felix Soria's successful comeback to boxing after a surgery on his spine that forced him a year and a half out of the ring. The last fight of the Balearic was his controversial victory over Georgian Davit Dzavashvili in June 2009 in Palma de Mallorca.
Rafael Sancho, manager of Felix Soria, plans to put his pupil back in action again here in Cebu, possibly against world rated WBA lightweight dangerous Panamanian Ameth "Chloroform" Diaz (29-10, 20KOs).
In another fight of the entertaining card, titled "Night of Gladiators", undefeated Filipino Dodie Boy Pe?alosa Jr. (3-0, 3KOs) won his 3rd consecutive victory in as many fights after prescribing an impressive KO to his opponent, the very mediocre veteran Jun Morano.
A fast and furious combination from Dodie Boy wounded his rival. Then, it was an accurate right hook the final bomb that concluded the fray at the 1:18 of the first round.
Dodie Boy Pe?alosa Jr. is son of former world champion Dodie Boy Pe?alosa Sr. His uncle is two-time world champion Gerry Pe?alosa. Dodie Boy Jr. will see action again next month here in Cebu, Philippines.
