Even without Manny Pacquiao, two Pinoy fighters proved they could stand on their own merits, defeating highly-fancied Japanese prospects hours ago in Nagoya, Japan.

Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation super-featherweight king Randy "Komong Bato" Suico lived up to his reputation as he bombed out Ryuhei Sugita via a fourth-round technical knockout win moments ago in Nagoya, Japan.

Suico unleashed punishment on Sugita, stopping the latter at the 2:39 mark of the fourth round.

Another Filipino, OPBF bantam champ Malcolm Tunacao, also retained his title, albeit on a different route, as he took a split draw with challenger Kohei Ohba in their 12-round tiff in the co-feature of the card held at the Nagoya International Conference Hall.

An Australian judge had Tunacao the winner 115-114, a Japanese judge saw Ohba the victor 115-113, while Filipino Teddy Alivio had it a draw at 115-115.

"I feel I won at least 7 rounds of the 12-round fight. I am very disappointed with the draw verdict," Tunacao said, informing that his management team was also surprised at the result.
