Philippine bantam champ Michael Domingo successfully defended his title as he took the bejesus out of challenger Roger Galicia, stopping the latter at the 55-second mark of the ninth round Friday evening in Quezon City.

Domingo downed Galicia in the ninth with a straight capped by a right hook, prompting referee Silvestre Abainza to stop the carnage.

"I had to stop the fight, as Galicia's corner signalled me to stop it. That was Galicia's second knockdown," said Abainza in an interview with this writer.

In the chief support, Rollen Del Castillo earned the bragging rights over Alex Aroy as he again upstaged the latter via unanimous decision in their grudge rematch.

Fabio Marfa, fighting like a wounded lion, also prevailed on a split decision nod over Mario De Asis in the night's most exciting fight.

Former RP bantam champ Johnny Lear earned yet another win with a one-sided beating of erstwhile unbeaten Alpher Paganpan.

In the curtain raisers, Milan Milendo kept his unbeaten streak with a fifth-round technical decision win over Ruther Del Castillo while Jongjong Gagante decisioned Rex Malibago.
