Bautista (L) and Barrera during their first encounter last August.

Filipino fighter Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista, gearing up for what is expected to be a very tought fight against Alejandro Barrera on Saturday, has been getting a lot of respect lately from Filipino fans following an interview with the popular radio show "Pinoy Boxing" on Sunday over RMN-DyHP aired all over the Visayas and Mindanao area as well as some parts of Luzon.

Bautista, in the radio interview, was informed that there have been fans who perceive him in a rather negative way due to his demeanor in and out of the ring, especially in the way he answers questions from the media, and even in simple things like the way he walks.

Bautista said that he does not hold any grudge against the fans, but then impressed all listeners when he informed that he has been a good son up to this day.

"I helped, and continue to help my parents and siblings up to this day. I don't earn as much as Manny Pacquiao, but I have properly invested my earnings, through the help of Sir Ala (sportsman Antonio L. Aldeguer)," Bautista told the radio show.

The 24-year-old fighter has businesses set up and owns properties in Bohol, fully aware that he will not be in boxing forever, and that there's still life to be enjoyed after his professional career.

Hundreds of fans who sent in text messages to the show's text line heaped praises on Bautista for strengthening a Filipino tradition of honoring his parents throught thick and thin and being an exemplary figure of being a true Filipino son.

Bautista versus Barrera takes place this Saturday at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel headlining the "Pinoy Pride 3" event presented by ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports.

Also seeing action are ALA-promoted Edrin Dapudong, as well as ALA fighters Jason Pagara and Roli Gasca and the very entertaining Jojo Intor.

The final press conference takes place today, while official weigh-in is set tomorrow at SM City Cebu.
