11 FOR 11: MY WISHES FOR MANNY PACQUIAO IN 2011

Manny Pacquiao, the world?s number one fighter in all weight divisions, is the darling of the sports media not only in the Philippines, but as well as all over the planet. Much has been written about his conquests in the passing year and much has been forecasted on his boxing career for the New Year 2011.

I have come up a list of eleven wishes for the Pacman to accomplish as a boxer and as a public servant for the year 2011. For Pacquiao, here?s the 11 for 11:

11. Peace and more blessings in the family. Our first priority is always our family and we wish Manny and Jinkee the peace they sought for and more blessings for the couple and their children in the New Year.

10. Success in business. Boxing is not for life. According to him he is good for three more fights. Life after boxing should be well prepared with fight money properly invested. We wish Manny and Jinkee accomplishments in their investments for Manny?s retirement.

9. Manny leaving his vices especially big cockfights. Money earned from boxing is via the hard way. It is not easy money, so we wish Pacman to stop indulging in big cockfights and derbies and save his valuable earnings.

8. More Awards and Citations. Almost all sports media and boxing organizations are giving Pacquiao major awards and citations. May he yet receive some more this year as this will serve inspiration for him to fight more and to achieve more.

7. No more controversial deals. We hope Manny can do away with controversial contracts and deals that could affect his training and his job as a representative. May he be extra careful this year in all business dealings.

6. Bill filed by Pacquiao becoming a law. We wish that one or more of his bills filed in Congress would be passed into a law. The success of a legislator will be measured not on the number of bills he filed but on the number of laws he passed.

5. Pacquiao successful in establishing a hospital in Sarangani. His major major program as a congressman is to build a long dreamed hospital in the province of Sarangani and we wish him success in this endeavor and all other programs in his congressional district.

4. More commercial endorsements. We hope Pacquaio can sign more contracts with companies for endorsing their products. He is the number one icon for advertising today and may he maintain that number one position.

3. Philippine tourism to make Pacman its poster boy. No other Filipino is known worldwide than Manny. And he offered himself as the poster boy for our tourism brochures and advertisements.

2. A fight with a younger boxer after the Mosley bout. Much criticism has been written and aired when the ageing Shane Mosley was picked up as the next Pacquiao opponent. We just hope next in line will be younger boxer or about the same age as Pacman himself. Probably a contract to fight Juan Manuel Marquez, Andre Berto or Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

1. Pacquiao maintaining his number one pound-for-pound title. We hope fighting a lesser opponent in Mosley would not affect his top ranking in the Ring Magazine pound-for-pound ratings.

Happy New Year to Manny and Jinkee and family and to all PhilBoxing and Pacland readers!
