ALA fighter Roli Gasca takes part in the biggest fight of his career when he challenges Pan Asian Boxing Association (PABA) super champion Tabtimdaeng Na Rachawat in a 12-round battle in Buriram, Thailand today.

Gasca, who is accompanied in Thailand by trainer Joseph Baldago and ALA public relations chief Chad Canares, made weight during official weigh-in yesterday, along with champion Rachawat.

"Gasca is in shape for this fight. He is ready," said boxing benefactor Antonio L. Aldeguer in a message to Cebu Daily News.

In a long-distance message from Thailand, trainer Baldago emphasized that Gasca trained long and hard, although they have not seen the champion's previous fights, so they are going to be very careful.

"Gasca is in fantastic shape. He knows this is his big chance, and he wont blow it. You only get this chance once in a while," said the young trainer.

"One thing we have to watch out for is the taping of the hands. We plan to ask the organizers that simultaneous taping will be done, with both fighters having their hands wrapped in the same area," said Canares. "We just want to make sure we get a fair deal."

Gasca (13-1, 1 KO), a former ABS-CBN "Pinoy Idol" champion, had defeated Jason Egera and Jessie Albarracin in his last two fights. His only loss came at the hands of Albert Alcoy in Manila.

Rachawat (34-1, 23 KO's), the star fighter of Bangkok's famed Galaxy Promotions, has been unbeaten since 2005.
