
Sultan defends RP crown in Sinulog card today

As the beats of the Sinulog festivities reach fever-high today, reigning Philippine welterweight boss Dondon Sultan also defends his title for the fourth time against Cesar Yarte in the main event of a slambang Sinulog card being put up by promoter Sammy "Don King" Gello-ani and Stein Global Sports & Entertainment Promotions at the Gaisano Countrymall carpark.
In the chief support, ex-RP flyweight champ Federico Catubay shoots for the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation flyweight title against Louie Bantigue in a 10-round scrap.

Sultan weighed in 147 lbs, while Yarte came in light at 144.5 lbs during official weigh-in held yesterday at the sprawling ALA Gym.
Catubay and Bantigue both checked in at 110 pounds for their tiff, which was originally slated for the regular RP crown before Catubay was stripped of the title for failing to defend it within regulatory period.

Completing the cast will be upcoming ALA and SGG Stable boxers against young pugilists from Mindanao. Heading the supporting line-up is ALA Boy Donnie ‘Ahas’ Nietes against Cagayan de Oro’s Noel Veronque. Cliff Smart-sponsored Robert Allanic will be pitted against Nonoy Devilleres and returning Sherwin Paro against War Bartiquel while SGG Stable’s Pedro Malco will fight Roy Llanasa from Camiguin.

Upcoming ALA boys Rey Caitom and AJ Banal will trade fists with Rodel Tejares and Ricky Escaner, respectively. Opening the event will be former Amateur Gold Medalist Rogen Flores and Noel Sungahid for 6-round bouts against Eddie Villegas and JR Baclayo.
