WBC Silver flyweight champion Edrin "The Sting" Dapudong is making sure nothing is put to chance this time as he defends his title on Sept. 17 against Mexican Wilbert Uicab in Cancun, Mexico.

Today, Dapudong visited the clinic of renowned California-based orthodontist Ed de la Vega to have his own custom-made mouthguard which he will use for the fight. Dapudong knows fully well that the mouthpiece is the most crucial equipment a fighter will use for himself inside the ring.

De la Vega, who is also the go-to orthodontist for superstar Manny Pacquiao for his mouthpiece needs which he use for his biggest fights, fitted Dapudong, dubbed the "Barefoot Prince of Philippine Boxing" with a red mouthguard which will complement the red fighting shoes he will wear during the fight courtesy of the Salinas-based Maniwang family.

Dapudong versus Uicab is made possible throught the efforts of international matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz and Philippine promoter Sammy Gello-ani, and brought to us by HG Boxing of Mexico and the Braveheart Boxing Club headed by former North Cotabato governor Manny Pinol.

ESPN will air the fight on September 18 Philippine time.
