TALIBON, BOHOL--Reigning RP junior welter champ Bart Abapo retained his title Friday evening, stopping challenger Rex Marzan in the sixth round of the "Rambolan sa Talibon" at the jampacked CPG Multi-Purpose Gym here.

Abapo, working behind a crisp left jab and high-precision right straight, befuddled the heavy-handed Marzan, turning the challenger's face into a gory mess when the fight was halted at the 1:11 of the 6th frame.

RP champ Bart Abapo gets his hands raised by referee Teddy Alivio after his stirring tko win over Rex Marzan.

A nasty cut over Marzan's left eyelid following a legi t punch in the second round gave Abapo an early lead, and after physician Jose Unabia's go-signal for the fight to resume, Abapo wasted no time toying with Marzan in the ensuing rounds

By the sixth, Marzan was a badly battered fighter before Unabia advised referee Teddy Alivio to halt the fight.

Abapo, making the first defense of the title, was awarded the championship trophy by Talibon Mayor Juanario Item and promoter Sammy "Don King" Gello-ani.

The SGG Hotbabes graced the event as ringcard girls.

In the chief support, Donnie Nietes looked scary in a clinical beating he inflicted on Allan Dugang before cruising to a one-sided unanimous decision win.

Danny Boy Bontilao prevailed over Roland Econas, while Edwin Gastador edged out Ronald Postrano by decision.

Other results had Reman Salim decisioning Phil Angcamor; Milan Milendo kayoed Rodel Emboy in the fourth; while Tiny Tyson decisioned Peter Paul Suico.
