Popular Filipino fighter Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista is ready to carry the Philippine flag, while Mexican Alejandro Barrera said he's raring to represent his country Mexico, and questions will be answered tonight as they collide in the main event of the huge "Philippines vs The World" card set to start 6PM at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.
Both Bautista and Barrera came in at their contract weights of 126.25 lbs during official weigh-in yesterday at the SM City Cebu.
Bautista (28-2, 21 KO's), once a highly-touted fighter who lost some of his luster following two setbacks abroad, is out to prove he still has what it takes to compete in a high level as he faces ring tactician Barrera (20-3, 13 KO's), who like him was once touted very promising in his country until defeats sent him back to the drawing board.
Bautista and Barrera are set to clash starting 9:32 tonight, but fans are advised to come earlier to witness the explosive undercard bouts.
The Candijay, Bohol raised Bautista has vowed to win this one, as a fight awaits for him in Dubai against Hector Avila on October 29.
ALA fighter Milan Milendo (21-0, 6 KO's) has vowed South Korean Jin Man Jeon will have no chance when they clash in another 10-round fight. Milendo is hoping a win over the tough-as-nails Korean gives him a crack at a world title. Both protagonists checked in at 111.75 lbs at yesterday's weigh-in.
Filipino Jimrex Jaca (30-6-3, 15 KO's) hopes to revive his career as he goes up against son of a legend Pipino Cuevas Jr (14-5, 12 KO's) in the third ten-round bout of the evening. Jaca, who trained in Thailand and ALA Gym for this fight, has vowed to silence his detractors who think he no longer has what it takes to compete among the best.
Former IBF minimumweight champion Florante Condes, nicknamed "Little Pacquiao" due to his unearthly punching power, dukes it out with Indonesian warrior Sofyan Effendi in an 8-rounder.
The rest of the card features Marlon Alta versus Naozumi Tsuchiyama; Jun Intor against Jaime Alin Jr; Wilbeth Loberanis against Romulo Ramayan; and Pedro Balaba against Kotsky Ebalang.
ABS-CBN will air the bouts tomorrow starting 10AM.
