One of the most renowned and prestigious boxing organizations, the World Boxing Organization, and its President Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel have coordinated with Fil-Am WBO Asia Pacific Chairman Mr. Leon P. Panoncillo, Jr. concerning an effort to help give back much of its success in Asia by donating a sum of 200,000.00 baht ($5000.00) to the needy children of Thailand, a special Christmas gift for poor children from the World Boxing Organization.
"I have expressed my feeling to our WBO President Valcarcel that its a way of giving thanks to the people of Thailand. We are not here just to collect sanction fees but to offer help among the thousands of poor children in this country for a special Christmas day for the needy. As we have remembered almost one year ago December 26th Phuket, Thailand was hit by a devastating Tsunami that left a lot of children orphaned and homeless. We at the WBO remember the loss of these children and people during that sad moment. Although World Boxing Organization which is based as far away at the other side of the world, we always try and think for others in the need, even though we are continents apart," said Leon Panoncillo Jr.
Donation from the World Boxing Organization will be presented by Mr. Leon Panoncillo, Jr, the WBO Asia Pacific Chairman on December 26, 2005 at Chumporn, Thailand and in attendance will be Governor Pinai Anuntapong, Vice Governor Weera Srwattatrakul, Thailand renowned promoter of Thailand Kokiet Panichayarom president of Kokiet Group Promotion and children, as well as teachers of twelve different provincial schools in Thailand that will be receiving this special gift.
"I have reached my goals in life, but giving to the needy children that I see in the streets of Thailand give me a whole lot more satisfaction and will be a highlight of my being with the WBO," Panoncillo added.
Panoncillo also said that the WBO had a tremendous year, such as the staging of the World Cup Thailand versus Mexico, a historic record 30,000 plus attendance in Tagbilaran, Bohol, Philippines featuring WBO Asia Pacific star Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista and much of the WBO Asia Pacific matches promoted throughout Asia that made the WBO regional titles the most active organization in the Asia Pacific Rim.
" We are sure to see more World Boxing Organization titles in the year 2006," Panoncillo said in closing.
