WBO Asia-Pacific minimumweight champ Benjie Sorolla prevailed on a hard-earned majority decision win over RP no. 10 Carlo Besares in their 10-round, non-title duel Thursday night at the Mines Elementary School grounds in Quezon City.

Sorolla, who took the WBO regional title only last September, was taken to the limit by the Kidapawan-based Besares before prevailing via scores of 98-94, 96-94, 95-95.

In the chief support, ex-RP bantam champ Johnny 'Boxer' Lear continued his roll, this time running over Jun Magsipoc in an 8-round shutout.

The former bemedalled amateur fighter Lear, a one-time PABA and WBC International title challenger, proved too much for Magsipoc in scoring an 80-72 win from all three judges.

In the other bouts. Michael Rodriguez prevailed on a split decision over Rodel Tejares in an 8-rounder; Ryan Bito won via unanimous decision over Roy Jones Jr after 6 rounds; Joebar Damosmog KO'd Lino Pongan in the opening round; while Michael Landiro defeated Frankie Escaner via split decision in the 4-round curtain-raiser.
