At the on-going World Boxing Association annual convention in Seoul, South Korea, the WBA ruled yesterday that Filipino Bert Batawang will face Indonesian Vicky Tahumil in a unification war with the winner advancing to challenge WBA light-flyweight king Roberto "Arana" Vazquez of Panama.
The Cebu-based Batawang is the current WBA Pan African light-flyweight champ, while the southpaw Tahumil is the Pan-Asian Boxing Association (PABA) kingpin.
Batawang holds a record of 35-11-3 with 28 KO's, while the undefeated Tahumil boasts of a 17-0-2, 7 KO's.
However, before the Batawang-Tahumil bout takes place, the Filipino needs to first hurdle a Japanese foe as he sees action against Hiroyuki Hisataka on December 3 in Osaka, Japan.
Meanwhile, SGG's Federico Catubay is already in the final phase of his training as he plunges into action on November 22 against Japanese Noriyuki Komatsu for the vacant OPBF flyweight title.
Catubay will be accompanied to Japan by his trainer, manager Sammy "Don King" Gello-ani, and Filipino boxing judge Jonathan Davis.
