ARUM TO DISREGARD ALL COMMENTS FROM MAYWEATHER CAMP

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum clearly wants the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr fight to happen and says he won?t do anything to jeopardize any future negotiations with whoever represents Mayweather.

Arum said ?I?m going to disregard all comments until I get into a room with his (Mayweather?s) representatives and see what?s what and I am not going to tip my hand and I?m not going to attack him and say that?s absurd. That doesn?t get us any place. This is a negotiation that I?m going to go into hoping that I can make this happen.?

Arum made it clear that the only way he could make a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight happen ?is for tempers to cool and for people to talk rationally.? Arum said he was ?going to talk to everybody once we get started and put a lid on statements made by our side because it doesn?t help the situation.?

Arum dismissed speculation that Pacquiao won?t fight again especially if he wins a congressional seat saying ?I do believe that he will fight again? and that fight would be what the public demands, a fight against Mayweather.

Arum who plans to leave on Tuesday for Las Vegas told us ?once I talk with Manny which will be after the elections, certainly do whatever I can to make that fight a reality? noting that ?everyone who comes up to me asks me when is Manny going to fight Mayweather.?

The world?s leading boxing promoter added that ?when you get an overwhelming public demand for a fight like that you have to do everything you can to make that fight a reality.?

A longtime friend of Pacquiao who featured him in his weekly amateur fight cards in General Santos City is respected businessman and passionate boxing fan Rey Golingan who built a gym in honor of Pacquiao named ?The People?s Champ? gym in the sprawling Family Country Hotel and Convention Center complex. Golingan believes that should the Pacquiao-Mayweather showdown materialize Pacquiao won?t have a hard time in handing Mayweather his first defeat.

Golingan said ?the speed of Manny and his stamina will work in his favor. He won?t be able to escape from Manny who will knock him out.?

He also pointed out that Mayweather doesn?t move as quickly as he did before whereas Pacquiao moves so well and his power comes from his legs.
