ALA fighters Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista and Milan Milendo set foot in Dubai early morning yesterday following a long flight that had a stopover in Hongkong.
Accompanying the two ALA fighters were manager Michael Aldeguer and ALA Promotions vice-president for marketing Dennis Canete as well as the boxers' trainers.
"They arrived at dawn," informed sportsman Antonio L. Aldeguer, who also revealed that organizers in Dubai were busy burning the line trying to re-route the flight of Milendo opponent Devis Perez of Colombia.
Most flights in Europe have been cancelled due to the volcanic ash clouds caused by a volcano eruption in Iceland.
Milendo is set to face Perez on April 23 at The Lodge of Chi Garden in Dubai for the WBC Youth Intercontinental flyweight title.
Bautista, hoping to re-trace his path to stardom, takes on Thailand's Saichon Sorornpitak in a ten-round non-title bout.
Toledo City's Larry "Bon Jovi" Canillas will take on Fred Sayuni of Tanzania in yet another exciting match-up.
This event will mark the return of professional boxing to the highly developed city of Dubai, dubbed as the 'Las Vegas of the Middle East' and this show will become a measuring stick for further boxing events.
KO Promotions, headed by its president Zack Taumafai, has however already organized several successful Muay Thai, MMA and UFC fight events in the area.
Doors will open at 6.30pm. For ticket information, go to: http://www.itp.net/tickets T:8004669; Chi @ The Lodge T:00974 3379470; KO Promotions T: 0097150 2861673.
