SABAUPAN WINS VACANT IBF PAN PACIFIC LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

Undefeated southpaw Al Sabaupan hammered a badly overmatched Indonesian Heri Adriyanto to win the vacant IBF Pan Pacific lightweight title in the Solar Sports presentation of ?Young Guns? at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City, Saturday night.

Sabaupan dropped Adriyanto in the very first round with a vicious combination and then continued to hammer the Indonesian who looked scared, before ultimately losing by a TKO at 32 seconds of the third round after having his nose bloodied and a big welt under his left eye from the pounding he took from the hard-hitting Filipino.

With the win Sabaupan improved to 11-0-1 with 8 knockouts while Adriyanto, who didn?t belong in the ring against the Filipino, dropped to 14-12-2 with 9 knockouts.

The Indon fighter had lost his last two fights besides suffering a 2nd round TKO at the hands of young Jason Pagara on May 31, 2008 and a 5th round TKO against Sydney-based Filipino Ranee ?KO Kid? Ganoy on July 24, 2009.

In an entertaining bout which was clearly the best bout in an exciting card another southpaw Nino Magboo won the WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight title with a unanimous twelve round decision over a game Ray ?Sting Ray? Las Pinas who took some huge body shots from Magboo who is rated No. 4 in the world by the WBO and hardly wilted, often engaging the stronger southpaw in some torrid exchanges.

With the win Magboo improved to 12-1-1 with 5 knockouts while Las Pinas dropped to 9-2-4 with 5 knockouts.

Las Pinas who was a late substitute for Indonesia?s Cesar Lopez who lost by a 6th round knockout to Australia?s Billy Dib last March 6 told us he had only two weeks to train for the fight and promised he would do much better the next time around.

Las Pinas is the fighter who told us he had knocked out the supposedly undefeated Ciso ?Kid Terrible? Morales who was brutally stopped by WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel last February 13 at the Las Vegas Hilton after having to lose 12 pounds in six days and virtually starving himself to death.

Las Pinas said he scored a 2nd round KO over Morales in Ciso?s pro debut in Talibon, Bohol when Morales was fighting under the name Hammer Rosales or Morales which is his registered name with the Games and Amusements Board.

However, by some strange twist that first loss of Morales was not recorded with the GAB although the agency admitted Morales was registered as ?Hammer? Morales who, also by coincidence, apparently never fought again according to the boxrec.com records.
