SOROLLA IS NEW WBO ASIA PACIFIC CHAMP

Benjie Sorolla took the World Boxing Organization's Asia Pacific minifly crown after a competitive unanimous decision win Saturday night over Thailand's Saengpetch Sor Sakulphan at the New San Andres Civic and Sports Center.
Leon Panoncillo, WBO Asia Pacific co-chairman who was at ringside to supervise the bout, said it was an exciting affair all throughout, a highly evenly-matched bout that had the crowd loving every bit of the 12-round action.
Judge Edwin Sese saw it 117-111, while Tony Comia had it 115-113 and Rudy Perez penned it 115-114 all for Sorolla.
