The four top professional world boxing organizations will meet with the Boxing Promoters Association this week to ?address important issues? according to World Boxing Council president Don Jose Sulaiman.

In a statement from Mexico, Sulaiman said ?Our sport of boxing is going through a historic moment where most of the elements that participate in the sport are joining together to bring back boxing to the great times when there was tremendous activity all over the world.? He said ?The WBC is very proud to confirm that the four major boxing organizations are working together, side by side, to try to implement very important and positive changes and programs.?

The president of the pre-eminent world body said ?We are also very proud to see that the promoters in the USA have formed the BPA and are meeting to address issues for the betterment of the sport.?

Sulaiman praised the various boxing commissions in the United States that he said have been ?working in a exemplary manner, reaching amicable agreements with regards to all the aspects that have to do with the boxing organization and the boxing commissions for title fights.? Sulaiman noted that this year the WBC has sanctioned title bouts in several different states and ?all of them have shown the WBC tremendous hospitality and mutual collaboration and support.?

The WBC president specifically thanked and recognized the states of California, Texas, Michigan and Florida, with all of the fights having neutral officials appointed, and all performed with great results.?

Sulaiman made special mention of the title fight between pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines and Joshua Clottey of Ghana saying ?How can we ignore the fact that Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas celebrated one of the greatest boxing events this past March with more than 50,000 fans in the arena.?

He also mentioned the heavyweight title defense in Germany featuring champion Wladimir Klitschko which he termed ?incredible? more than 50,000 fans attending even as Sulaiman cited Mexico?s phenomenon, as four different TV stations are broadcasting boxing every Saturday night with incredible results in popularity and TV ratings; or the unbelievable 54 percent that the title fight between Koki Kameda and Daisuke Naito last November 29generated in Japan .

Sulaiman concluded by saying ?The WBC celebrates this new opportunity for boxing to continue and grow for years to come, as boxing will always exist because it is a great sport that serves society and gives opportunities to those that dream of becoming someone in life and because our great heroes, the boxers, male and female, represent their countries with pride and dignity around the world. I invite all of the boxing community to continue with your best efforts to try to find unity and solidarity among all countries.?
