WBA super flyweight interim champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire has begun preparations for his rematch with WBC/WBA super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan.

Donaire told us that brothers Jonathan and Dodie Boy Penalosa had arrived in San Francisco and they have begun working out at the Undefeated Gym in San Carlos, California since Monday.

The former IBF/IBO flyweight champion who won the title with a spectacular 7th round knockout of Darchinyan on July 7, 2007 told us that ?there is nothing really new. They (Top Rank promoter Bob Arum and manager Cameron Dunkin) are still trying to finalize the deal.?

Asked why it appeared to be taking so long, Domaire replied ?I have no idea.? However, he expressed confidence that ?it's going to go? and indicated that he had been given an August 21 date for the rematch.

Donaire said he was planning to have a tune-up fight sometime in early June but has no idea who his opponent would be.

Earlier, Donaire said his manager Cameron Dunkin was sending two sparring partners to their training camp and he was eager to get going.

Donaire sports a record of 23-1 with 15 knockouts following his overpowering 3rd round knockout win over Manuel ?Chango? Vargas last February 13 at the Las Vegas Hilton.

Darchinyan who improved his record to 34-2-1 with 27 knockouts dominated his last bout against Rodrigo Guerrero and won handily on the scorecards of all three judges -120-108, 118-110 and 117-111 last March 6.. But although Darchinyan hammered Guerrero with a variety of punches, he failed to drop him let alone knock him out despite his vaunted punching power.
