The International Boxing Federation is giving former minimum weight world champion Florante Condes another chance to get a mandatory title shot.

Championship Committee chairman Lindsey Tucker informed us that he had sent emails to well-known South African promoter Branco Milenkovic who handles No. 4 ranked Tshepo Lefele (17-3, 11KO?s) and the guardians of No. 6 ranked Florante Condes (23-5-1, 20 KO?s) of the Philippines informing both parties about the IBF plan for an elimination bout with the winner becoming the mandatory challenger.

The IBF sent the Condes email to Apolinar Valencia, the husband of Condes? aunt Marilou Valencia with whom the former world champion lives in Taytay, Metro Manila when training.

Valencia accompanied Condes when he defended his title against Raul ?Rayito? Garcia in Mexico and lost on a somewhat controversial split decision.

In his letter Tucker said ?Be advised that #4, Tshepo Lefele and #6, Florante Condes are the 2 highest ranked available contenders in the IBF Mini Flyweight division. In an effort to determine who the mandatory challenger will be, the IBF is ordering that an elimination bout should be held between Lefele and Condes for the number 1 position. The winner will become #1 and the mandatory challenger.?

Tucker informed Valencia that within three days ?or no later than April 9, 2010 you should contact this office in writing advising of your availability. In the event we do not hear from you in writing by 5 PM EST on April 9, 2010, we will assume that you do not wish to participate in this eliminator process and proceed down the list of rankings to the next available contender.?

At the same time the IBF executive noted that ? if either fighter is contracted to fight another opponent, is on suspension or out due to medical reasons, under IBF rules he is unavailable. We would then move to the next available contender.? Milenkovic has already thanked the IBF and indicated that Lefele has accepted the offer.

However, there appeared to be a complication when Filipino promoter Sammy Gello-ani sent an email to Tucker claiming that Florante Condes ?is now under my (Gello-ani?s) promotional company SGG Promotions.?

Gello-ani together with international matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz arranged the title defense against Garcia and later the eliminator against Nikosinathi Joyi which Condes lost enabling the South African to earn a shot at Garcia from whom he won the title.
