Michael Domingo.

ALA fighter Michael Domingo will travel to Japan to serve as sparring partner to WBC bantam king Hozumi Hasegawa, and at the same time continue his training for his May 1 showdown with Colombian Luis Melendez.

"Domingo left for Japan to be sparmate of world champion Hasegawa who is southpaw like Luis Melendez," informed well-loved Cebu sportsman Antonio L. Aldeguer, Domingo's chief benefactor.

Domingo will headline the huge May 1 card opposite Melendez, who lost to Z Gorres last year but effectively put an end to the latter's career following a head operation after the bout.

Hasegawa will also be prepping for his much-anticipated showdown with WBO bantam champ Fernando Montiel on April 30 at the Nihon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan.

Hasegawa is a southpaw just like Melendez, so sparring him would only benefit Domingo.

Meanwhile, Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista and Milan Milendo have called off their planned trip to Dubai this week, opting to leave just a week before the April 23 fight to help drum up interest for the card.

"It will take another 15 days to reapply for a visa so they will just go to Dubai a week before the fight for the presscon," assured Aldeguer.

Bautista will see action in the huge Dubai card presented by KO Promotions in cooperation with the ALA Boxing Promotions. Also set to see action in the card are Milan Milendo and Bon Jovi Canillas.
