Former WBC flyweight champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam and reigning WBC minimum weight champion Oleydong Sithsamerchai have arrived in Tokyo ready to do battle against Japanese opponents in title fights at the Ariake Coliseum on Saturday.

32 year old veteran Pongsaklek (74-3-1, 39 KO’s) who is the current Interim champion has been the center of attention of the Japanese media since his arrival for his showdown with the colorful Koki Kameda (22-0, 14 KO’s) who trained for some time with brother Daiki Kameda at the Elorde Sports Complex in Metro Manila.

Pongsaklek and his promoter Wirat Wachiratanawong were met at the Narita airport by the manager of former world champion Daisuke Naito, Hiroyuki Miyata.

Naito who had on occasions trained at the famed ALA Gym in Cebu fought Pongsaklek four times winning the title with a twelve round unanimous decision on July 18, 2007 in Tokyo and retaining the belt by salvaging a draw on March 8, 2008.

The Thai southpaw earned the title shot at Kameda by winning the interim title in a close decision over Julio Cesar Miranda on April 24, 2009 in Thailand.

Pongsaklek won the WBC flyweight title with a stunning first round knockout of Filipino Malcolm Tunacao on March 2, 2001 and successfully defended the title no less than 16 times.

The 23 year old southpaw Kameda won the title with a unanimous twelve round decision over Naito on November 29, 2009 and his clash with Pongsaklek will mark the first defense of the green and gold 112 pound belt.

Pongsaklek has told the Thai media that he would use his experience to beat Kameda and return to Thailand with the world title belt.

Oleydong will defend his WBC straw-weight title against Japanese challenger Yasutaka Kuroki. The Thai world champion said he was a little excited because his title defense on Saturday will be the first outside his native Thailand.

The 24 year old Oleydong has a record of 33-0 with 12 knockouts. Also a southpaw the Thai won the world title with a unanimous twelve round decision over fellow Thai Eagle Den Junlaphan who had been fighting in Japan for years as Eagle Kyowa.

Oleydong has made four successful title defenses, the last being a majority decision victory over Juan Palacios last November 27, 2009 in Thailand.

The 28 year old Kuroki another southpaw with a record of 23-3-1, 15 knockouts is the former Japanese and Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation minimum weight champion and is coming off a 6th round TKO win over Takumi Suda last February 1, 2010.
