Filipino pound-for-pound icon Manny Pacquiao will return from battle today, and will be accorded a red-carpet reception befitting a warrior who is coming home after a monumental victory.

Pacquiao, together with his team, planes in today at 5:30 AM on board a PAL flight.

From the airport, Pacquiao, an adopted son of Manila, will lead a ticker-tape parade around the city, arranged for him by Manila Mayor Lito Atienza.

Games and Amusements Board chairman Eric Buhain, who is set to meet Pacquiao at the airport, will also arrange a visit by Pacquiao to Malacanang Palace to meet his biggest fan, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Manila Sports Council (Masco) chairman Arnold "Ali" Atienza, who will lead the preparations in welcoming Pacquiao, has billed the theme of today's affairs as "Kampeon ng Maynila, Kampeon ng Bansa."

Meanwhile in Bohol, thousands of local residents are expected to overflow at major streets in Tagbilaran City as WBO Asia Pacific bantam king Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista, fresh from his third-round demolition of Felix Murillo last Sunday, returns to his hometown in Candijay.

Bohol Governor Erico Aumentado, Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Lim, and Candijay Mayor Sergio Amora Jr will lead all Boholanos in welcoming the 19-year-old ring wonder.

A victory parade in Tagbilaran and Candijay awaits Bautista, who plans to defend his WBO title in Bohol sometime before end of the year.
