LAURENTE IS GAB BOXER OF THE MONTH

Former Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) lightweight champ Dennis Laurente of the Johnny Elorde Stable has been voted by the GAB ratings committee as its August Boxer of the Month in the agency's latest rankings.
Laurente earned the nod for his big victory in Japan recently, where he decisioned top prospect Yuki Yoshizawa last August 2 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
It was Laurente's first triumphant return in Japan, where he lost his OPBF title to Chikashi Inada last March 5 in a rematch of their first encounter won by the Filipino.
The 28-year-old southpaw, a native of Iloilo City, has a record of 23 wins, 2 losses, 5 draws with 12 KO's.
