Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA) flyweight champion Hongfah Tor Buamad is set to star in a Thai soap opera on the Channel 3 television network.

Thai media reported that the world champion who is featured in the soap opera series “Fad Na Ya” or “Twin” has already shot her first scene which was in a market in the resort city of Pattaya along with Thailand’s leading actress and singer Katreeya English.

Hongfah who won the title with a 3rd round knockout of Wang Chin Feng last November 12 recently retained her title by beating Japan’s Tamami Morimoto.

The champion’s manager Narongwat Buamad was quoted by the Thai media as saying Hongfah, along with Samson Tor Buamad and other female boxers in his camp, have been approached by a number of producers but that he had turned down their offers.

Narongwat said he does not intend to prevent the boxers from beginning careers in entertainment but wanted “the kids to become determined in boxing first.”

Narongwat revealed that he explained “to my kid boxers that our career is boxing and not acting. If they are free or have just finished a match, I occasionally let them take acting jobs.”

He revealed that “Hongfah in particular is much sough-after by many companies and movie houses. They said they want beautiful and talented girls with pretty faces. If this does not cause trouble or damage to the boxer, I will be glad to support her.”
