World Boxing Council President Don Jose Sulaiman is in Los Angeles en route to Thailand where he is scheduled to receive an honorary doctorate of philosophy degree by the Crown Prince Maha Vachiralongkorn at the Royal Suanamporn Hall on March 1.
Thai media reported that the Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University will also present doctorate degrees to Dr Chea Chamroen (Cambodia), Dr Nguyen Van Khan (Vietnam), Dr Sukongsang Chaiyalert (Laos) and Dr Gao Yubao (China).
During his planned eight day visit to Thailand, Sulaiman is also scheduled to pay a visit to the Siriraj Hospital where the revered King of Thailand is confined.
Sulaiman will be accompanied by a number of former and current Thai WBC champions such as former bantamweight champion Veeraphol Sahaprom, flyweight “interim” title holder Pongsaklek Wonjongkam and straw weight champion Oleydong Sithsamerchai in his hospital visit.
The WBC chief will be received by WBC vice-president Police General Kowit Pakdeepoom and WBC governor Edward Thangarajah as well as a host of prominent Thai promoters who are looking to arrange world title matches for their boxers.
