Thai promoter Naris Singwancha who is involved in promoting both boxing and muaythai has reportedly teamed up with former champion Pud Pay Noy Worawut to promote muaythai in the Philippines.

Siam Sport reported that Pud Pad Noy, nicknamed "Golden Legs" left the Thai muaythai scene decades ago to spend 23 years as trainer in France and a couple more years in Sweden and the Philippines. He was credited for helping the Filipinos compete in muaythai in the past two SEA Games in Thailand and Laos.

Naris took the opportunity to recruit Pud Pad Noy upon the trainer’s return to Thailand as his employment contract in the Philippines ended. He also persuaded Phosawat Saengsawang, muaythai expert at Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University, to help him promote the sport in the island country. They are discussing with a muaythai association in the Philippines the possibility of holding muaythai matches in the country.

Naris told Siam Sport that “People in the Philippines were first interested in kickboxing, but after Pud Pad Noy became muaythai coach there, the sport became more widespread. At present, we are talking with the muaythai federation there and they want us to help organize muaythai matches.”

If plans push through as expected the first muaythai match will be held in Cebu City on March 20 and will follow standard muaythai rules, although elbow guards may be required.

Naris was awarded a certificate of honor by Bayawan City in Negros Oriental for his role in muaythai sport and his contribution to the city’s reputation.

Siam Sport also reported that the Thai promoter will attend a fight card in Bayawan City which will feature Thailand’s Jesus Singwangcha vs. Filipino Jovy Merca for the vacant Philippines Boxing Federation (PBF) junior lightweight title and Jayson Singwangcha vs. Filipino Gedion Amba for the PBF junior featherweight title.
