WBA Pan-African Light Flyweight Champion and world contender Bert Batawang stakes his lofty ratings against the dangerous brawler Eugene Gonzales in another slam-bang boxing promotion of Samson ?Don King? Gello-ani on September 17, 2005 at the Mandaue Sports Complex.
The ageless Batawang and the sledgehammer-puncher Gonzales are both grizzled veterans in the fight game with each having amassed more than 45 fights to their credit.
The WBA-Pan African champion however has a higher-knockout percentage over the hitman Gonzales although the latter?s punching power should not be discounted as he recently knocked out top contender, Roselito Campa?a, in the 1st round last July 17 at the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque.
The pride of the famed L&M stable of Manila, the 28 year old Gonzales is no stranger to Cebu boxing fans as he fought and lost twice against Jovan Presbitero and Wyndel Janiola respectively at the Cebu Coliseum but avenged these losses with a double victory over Jojo Bardon.
?The fight between Batawang and Gonzales is a dream fight guaranteed to be full of action from start to finish but I doubt if it will last the distance,? confides Gello-ani.
Three upcoming and talented stalwarts from the AEV stable of Edito ?ALA? Villamor will face their acid test against formidable opponents when RP No. 3 Light Flyweight Along Denoy collides with tough Ni?o Suelo of Cotabato and crowd-pleaser Robert Allanic trades blows with John Rey Verano of Bukidnon while young and undefeated Isidro Balabat attempts to break the rating when he meets RP No. 5 Flyweight Jun Eraham of Manila.
These showdown of gutsy warriors are evenly matched to guarantee the Cebuano boxing fans a night of thrills and bloody action.
As an added attraction, two former outstanding amateurs who are now making waves in the pro ranks will strut their wares anew when Rey Caitom and A.J. Banal climb the ring against Frederick Salde and Julius Cabusas, respectively, in a pair of 6-round appetizers.
