CISO MORALES WANTS TO DETHRONE MONTIEL

Undefeated Filipino fighter Ciso "Kid Terrible" Morales knows that a win over Mexican star Fernando Montiel catapults him to his dream of a good life so he has pulled all stops in making sure he will get into the ring in the best shape of his life.

This was relayed the other day by Morales' Filipino promoter Sammy Gello-ani, who informed that the Talibon, Bohol-raised Morales started early in training, and has no weight problems whatsoever for his upcoming challenge of Montiel for the WBO bantamweight crown.

"I have been getting daily updates of their training in California. They told me a television crew came to the gym to take footages of Ciso in training. The boy is really working hard," informed Gello-ani.

Montiel (39-2-2, 29 KO's) versus Morales(14-0, 8 KO's) is one of the featured bouts in the February 13 Pinoy Power/Latin Fury Card set at the Las Vegas Hilton in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"Ciso Morales comes into the fight a virtual unknown, a heavy underdog. But he will not be lacking in preparation and hunger," stressed Gello-ani, whose stable of fighters are being lined up for world title bouts or eliminators.

"Under the guidance of world class trainer Nonito Donaire Sr, Morales has found his perfect touch training at the Kennel Boxing Gym in California. His conditioning coach Arvin Jugarap makes sure he eats the right food," added Gello-ani, who is set to depart for California next week to be at ringside for the fight.

Gello-ani stressed that based on their individual fight record, Morales is nowhere near the experience and the quality of fighters that Montiel has faced, but opportunities like this come once in a lifetime, and as long as you're in shape, you will always have a chance.

This is the same guiding principle that has allowed Gello-ani to steer the career of his other wards Marvin Sonsona and Jhonriel Casimero to win world crowns despite their seeming lack of credentials.

"I don't really wait around. My job is to look for opportunities for them, and when it comes, they better be ready," added Gello-ani, who will also be at ringside in Puerto Rico when Sonsona takes on fellow undefeated Wilfredo Vazquez Jr for the WBO superbantam title on February 27.

Montiel vs Morales will be aired on the same day by giant network ABS-CBN, along with the other bouts featuring Gerry Penalosa, Bernabe Concepcion, Mark Jason Melligen, and Nonito Donaire Jr.
