MANILA--An explosive undercard has been readied by Solar Sports when the "Collision Course" card gets off the wraps tomorrow at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
Aside from the IBF championship bout featuring Brian Viloria against Carlos Tamara as well as the non-title duel between WBO champion Donnie Nietes and Jesus Silvestre, nine more bouts are on tap including the professional debut of Dodie Boy Penalosa Jr.
The young Penalosa, son of former two-division world champ Dodie Boy and nephew of ex-world champ Gerry Penalosa, takes on Anthony Balubar in a six-round encounter.
"He was actually invited to see action in the undercard of Manny Pacquiao's next fight, but we decided that it would be better for him to start his career here," said the elder Penalosa, who trains his son.
Comebacking Jimrex Jaca, who gave Juan Manuel Marquez one of his most difficult fights, returns to ring action against Indonesia's Ramadhan Weriu in a tenner.
"I was actually planning to train for this fight at the world class gym of Daniel Potter in Thailand, but I decided to train at the famous ALA Gym to remain focused," said an excited Jaca, who said he's ready to fight even if this was a world title bout.
Philippine lightweight champion Jason Pagara goes up against Indonesia's Eddy Comaro in a ten-round action.
Rey Las Pinas goes up against Jaypee Alipio in another ten-round tiff.
The rest of the bouts pits Jay Solmiano versus Arnel Dunal; Mike Randy Petalcurin versus Marlon Tapales; Roselito Campana against Jose Ocampo; Bryan Diano against John Mark Apolinario; Benjamin Bartolome versus Ivan Soriano.
All fighters made weight during official weigh-in yesterday supervised by officials of the IBF headed by Mr. Ray Wheatley and officials of the Games and Amusements Board.
First bout starts 8AM Philippine time tomorrow.
