Z "The Dream" Gorres scored a knockdown in the second round, then gave out a neat boxing lesson to Thai Deeden Kengkarun to win their 10-round bout Saturday night at the New San Andres Civic and Sports Center via lop-sided unanimous decision.

Gorres moves in to score against Kengkarun as referee Ferdi Estrella looks on.

Gorres started connecting right at the get-go, then unleashed a well-timed left straight in the second frame to floor the visiting Thai on all fours before completely dominating his foe en route to a 100-88, 100-88, 100-88 victory.

By the fourth, Gorres had completely figured out his foe, turning the fight into a virtual mismatch until the last round.

The win improved Gorres record to 20 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw with 11 KO's and lines him up for a possible crack at the OPBF 115-lb title in the near future.

Manila Mayor Lito Atienza awards the trophy on Gorres as trainer Ala Villamor looks on.

Gorres was awarded with a handsome trophy by Manila Mayor Lito Atienza and Viva Hotbabes members Gwen Garci, Zarah Lopez and Ella V.

Gorres, 23, is now looking forward to challenging the winner of the Masayuki Arinaga vs. Daisuke Maruyama Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) title bout scheduled to take place in Tokyo on August 22, although his manager Tony L. Aldeguer, also stated that they might give him one more fight before vying for the OPBF title.

DOMINGO DETHRONES BAUYA

In the chief support, Cebu-based Michael Domingo dethroned RP bantam champ Joel Bauya by the skin of his teeth, earning a split technical decision after the bout was stopped in the ninth round following a cut suffered by Domingo from an accidental clash of heads.

Domingo won after two judges gave him a 77-75 and 78-74 nod, while the third judge had Bauya the winner on a 77-75 card.

CAITOM SURVIVES PIT ANACAYA

In a battle between young prospects, Cebu's Rey Caitom survived a second-round scare to eke out a split decision over four rounds.

Caitom displayed fine form in the opening round, but took a hard left in the second that almost knocked him down. He then went on to outpoint the tough Anacaya in the last two rounds.

OTHER RESULTS

Donnie Nietes and Nino Suelo figured in a technical draw after the latter suffered a nasty cut in the opening due to an accidental headbutt; Rey Orais took a unanimous decision win over the unorthodox-fighting Edmund Velayo; Lito Sisnorio scored his career-best win with a split decision over Isidro Lorona; Rodel Quilaton upstaged Gerald Ubatay by split decision; Rodel Tejares won via split decision over Arnel Tadena; while Eden Sonsona, the pride and joy of Rod Nazario, stopped Rosano Miranda Jr at the 2:35 of the fourth.
