With his US fight still being negotiated, Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation super-featherweight king Randy `Komong Bato` Suico is set to jet off to Japan next month to further hone up his skills in preparation for a possible big fight in the US or an OPBF title defense in Cebu.
Suico, the power-punching Mandaue City-native now managed by Japan`s Joe Koizumi, had earlier told this writer that he was originally penciled in to face Erik Morales on September 10, but reports had it that Morales` handlers eventually opted for a `safer` opponent.
This time, Morales will be facing Zahir Raheem on September 10, co-headlining a Los Angeles card with pound-for-pound great Manny Pacquiao, who will duke it out with Mexican hombre Hector Velazquez.
Reports coming from Japan indicated that Suico will be staying for one week in the country, where he will try to polish some more his defensive skills, and get his offensive arsenal in sharp shape.
Suico last saw action on April 27, demolishing Thai Muangfahlek Kiatwichean in four rounds at the Lapu-Lapu Sports Complex following another victory over Indon Ibrahim Aroby in October last year.
