Tagbilaran’s very own boxing sensation Caesar Amonsot will headline the boxing extravaganza for Bohol’s Sandugo Festival this July 20, 2005 at the Tagbilaran City Tourist Port.

The current Philippine Boxing Federation featherweight champ, Amonsot has moved up in weight to fight Richard Cabillo for a non-title 10-round main bout in the superfeatherweight division. Other bouts include fellow Boholanos Isidro Balabat and John Carlos who will fight against their Cagayan counterpart Abdul Simo and Abner Llanasa respectively. Jason Geda will trade mitts against Eddie Villegas and newcomer Rashied Bacus will step up the ring on his second professional fight against Emmanuel Baguio.

Amonsot is fresh from his majority win fight against Jun Paderna last June 11 at the Mandaue Sports Complex. Following a 4-fight stint in Indonesia wherein Amonsot piled two successful wins after a controversial loss to Simon Butar Butar and a draw against Joey Ricardo, this will be Amonsot’s second fight before a hometown crowd.

The fight card will also include 10 amateur bouts pitting Bohol boxers against other amateurs from Cagayan, Cebu and Lapu-Lapu City.

This event will be OPEN and FREE to the public sponsored by the Bohol Sandugo Foundation, Inc. in partnership with the City Government of Tagbilaran and the Provincial Government of Bohol.

There is no denying that the support given by Mayor Dan Neri Lim of Tagbilaran City has been valuable to boxing as Bohol has produced a number of world-class prizefighters headed by WBO Aspac champ Rey ‘Boom-Boom’ Bautista, upcoming RP No. 1 Light-Flyweight contender Along Denoy, and Tagbilaran’s Caesar Amonsot among others.
