An explosive line-up of fistic match-ups can be had when the "BOXING AT THE BAY: First Strike" takes place this Saturday starting 9AM at the Cuneta Astrodome.
The event is a joint venture between Solar and Saved by the Bell.
SBB's Elmer Anuran, in an interview, revealed the strong cast readied for the fans, which will be headlined by the WBA International superflyweight showdown between Filipino Drian Francisco and Panama's Rafael "La Arana" Vasquez.
Anuran indicated that a strong showing by Francisco over the Panamanian will lead to a planned title bout against reigning WBA titleholder Nonou Nashiro, who retained his title last night with a draw against Mexican Hugo Cazares in Japan.
The chief support will feature top featherweight prospect Michael Farenas of the Gerry Penalosa/Kosuke Washio Stable against Jong Ang Baek of Korea in another 12-round championship showdown.
An exciting ten-rounder pits ALA fighter Michael Domingo, touted as the most underrated yet skilled Cebuano pug, against former US Olympian and four-time world title challenger Jose Navarro. This bout is expected to steal the limelight should Navarro opt to engage.
To add to the already stellar line-up, another ALA fighter, Milan Milendo, is also set to battle Mexican Guadalupe "Lobito" Martinez in a ten-round clash.
The other ten-rounder pits Pinoy lightweight contender Al Sabaupan against Mexican Josafat Perez.
The rest of the card pits Jethro Pabustan versus Samuel Pabuya (8 rds); Joe Galamiton against Jessie Albarracin (8 rds); Jay Solmiano versus Dennis Padua (8rds); Ronele Esparas against Randy Migreno (8 rds); Lloyd Francisco against Rene Bucag Jr (6 rds); Lolito Sonsona versus Elbert Guardario (6 rds); Ray Perez versus Jay Palido (6 rds); Mark Vito vs Jeffrey Cerna (6 rds); Dave Baliguat against Christian Maas (6 rds); RJ Dolorosa against Manny Talisic (6 rds); and Rene Manlapas versus Mark Cacananta (4 rds).
Official weigh-in is set tomorrow at the Manila Ocean Park at 10AM, according to Anuran.
