NEUROSURGEON, GAB CLEAR AMONSOT TO FIGHT

Well-known neurosurgeon Dr. Almario G. Jabson as well as the Games and Amusements Board have cleared Czar Amonsot to return to the ring after checking out his MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) done by the Radiology Department of the Cebu Doctors? last September 24, conducting a CTScan and reviewing his medical records from Las Vegas.

The MRI was conducted more than one year after Amonsot lost a unanimous twelve round decision in a bloody brawl with Michael Katisidis for the WBO Interim lightweight title in Las Vegas where doctors discovered a tiny spec of blood outside the brain.

Dr. Jabson, in a phone conversation with www.insidesports.ph, Standard Today and Viva Sports pointed out that when he reviewed the medical records from Las Vegas they showed Amonsot had a ? very small subdural hematoma? which was now clear and the patient was stable.

He said ?as far as I am concerned he (Amonsot) is okay and he can proceed with his normal activities? although Dr. Jabson maintained he was ?not sure of the boxing rules? which fall under the authority of the Games and Amusements Board.

Dr. Jose Unabia of the GAB Office in Cebu told us ?we had a medical examination including a CT Scan and everything is normal. He is okay to fight.?

Amonsot has been eager to return to the ring and gets his chance against 21 year old Indonesian Zoel Fidal who has a record of 16-6-2 with 7 knockouts but has lost four of his last five fights. The losses included a second round TKO at the hands of the highly talented Daud Cino Yordan who was undefeated at the time they fought with a 19-0, 14 KO record.

The southpaw Amonsot is an explosive crowd-pleased as clearly evidenced in his war with Katsidis, but ALA president Michael Aldeguer while optimistic about the Filipino?s chances has cautioned Amonsot to ?avoid being over-confident.?

Super flyweight AJ "Bazooka" Banal whom respected boxing man and WBC founding secretary general Rudy Salud believes is a future world champion despite his stunning 10th round KO loss to Panama?s Rafael Concepcion last year, faces Indonesia?s 25 year old super flyweight champion Nouldy Manakane who is ranked No. 4 by the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation, OPBF.

Manakane has a record of 17-7-1 with 8 knockouts. He suffered a second round knockout at the hands of world title challenger Hussein Hussein when Hussein was in his prime on September 22, 2006. He also lost a twelve round unanimous decision to WBO No.1 super flyweight Pramuansak Posuwan of Thailand who is scheduled to fight No. 2 ranked Jose ?Carita? Lopez for the title vacated by champion Fernando Montiel who is moving up to bantamweight.

Manakane will be making his first appearance in the Philippines and his manager Temuzin Rambing claims Banal ?is mistaken if he expects to seek redemption at the expense of my boxer? bragging that Manakane will ?destroy Banal and end his career.?
