The top-rated weekly boxing show ?The Main Event? is once again back on Channel 9 after an agreement was reached recently between Solar Sports and Viva Sports.
The one hour show will be telecast on Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. right after the ?live? telecast of the NBA Games.
In its initial telecast on Saturday, December 6, the show which is produced by Viva Sports will feature a pre-fight special on the ?Dream Match? between Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao and ?The Golden Boy? Oscar De La Hoya which will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Sunday morning.
The "Dream Match" will be telecast in the Philippines by Solar Sports "live" in theaters and other venues nationwide as well as Solar Sports on cable, at 10:00 a.m. on GMA 7 with a replay at 9:00 p.m. on CS 9.
?The Main Event? special includes highlights of some of the fights of Pacquiao and De La Hoya plus training footage, Team Pacquiao?s visit to the Philippine Consulate in Chicago, the promotional tour launch at the Statue of Liberty, interviews conducted by special correspondent Romy Sager with Pacquiao, De La Hoya, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum and Pacquiao?s trainer Freddie Roach.
?The Main Event? is sponsored by Tanduay, the No.1 Rhum, Pagcor and PCSO.
Among the fights scheduled in the weeks ahead are the WBC title eliminator of light flyweight contender Juanito Rubillar and former champion Omar Nino Romero, Rubillar?s title fight against reigning champion Edgar Sosa and the comeback fight of former IBF minimum weight champion Florante Condes in Compostela, Cebu this December.
In the first quarter of next year "The Main Event" will present a mixture of local fights and a number of international boxing events together with regular boxing news, features and updates including a glimpse into the fighting style of Erik Ramirez, the challenger to WBO minimum weight champion Donnie Nietes in February in Mexico City.
