Practice do not always make perfect. At times it prevents an athlete from the actual game because of injury. In boxing, as well as in other sports, the same accident can happen..

In an electronic mail sent to ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer, international matchmaker nonpareil and World Boxing Association?s (WBA) matchmaker of the year Sampson Lewkowicz informed that WBA president Gilberto Mendoza suffered an injury in his shoulder during a tune-up session for the special attraction match in the championship explosion dubbled ?Laban Na Banal: Panahon Na!? on July 26. Mendoza was slated to exchange mitts against former Philippine champion Ernie Alesna in a three-rounder that was expected to add entertainment to a crowd of mixed nationalities at the New Cebu Coliseum next week.

Meanwhile, WBA ratings director Jose Gomez revealed to Aldeguer that the WBA is showing interest in working with the Philippine Games and Amusement Board (GAB) in officiating the Inter-Continental minimumweight championship fight between regional conquerors Milan ?Milenyo? Melindo and Panamenian Carlos ? Shanghai ? Melo. Gomez said he will be writing to GAB chairman Eric Buhain to indicate their interest on the matter.

The world championship contest is produced by ALA Promotions in association with ABS-CBN Sports, Golden Boy Promotions, and the Cebu City Government. Major sponsors include the Visayas Electric Company (VECO), Kia Motors, University of the Visayas, SM City Cebu, Sun Star Cebu, Super Balita, Chika-an sa Cebu-Lahug, the Freeman, Media Images & Production Concepts, Gaisano Grand, Cebu Daily News, La Tegola Cucina Italiana, Y101 Always First, Holo Espa?ol, and One Way Garments Manufacturing Corporation.
