Carlo Biado defeated fellow Filipino Paolo Gallito in a thrilling 10–9 finish to capture the 2026 Indonesia International Open title and took home the top prize of $25,000 last Saturday night in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Gallito was leading 9–8 and looked set to close out the match — but he scratched after pocketing the 8-ball with only the 10-ball remaining, handing Biado a lifeline. And at Biado’s level, he rarely lets such chances slip away.

Before reaching the finals, Biado had to get past his countrymen: Jefrey Roda (10-3) in the Round-of-16, Jonas Magpantay (10-7) in the quarterfinals, and Bernie Regalario (10-6) in the semifinals.

He will now turn his sights to defending his crown at the Asian Pool Championship in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam starting July 10.

“What an incredible journey. I made it again. I want to thank everyone who supported me throughout this tournament. Your prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support mean the world to me.

"A very special thank you to my wife and our daughter for surprising me by coming all the way here to Indonesia. Having you both by my side gave me extra inspiration and strength to keep fighting until the very end.

"To my Angela, thank you for cheering the loudest and believing in me every step of the way. Your love and support gave me the strength to become a champion. This trophy is for you.

"To my opponent Paolo Gallito, congratulations on an amazing tournament. Thank you for making every Filipino proud. Your time will come — keep believing and keep working hard. You will get there too.

"To my brother AN Pu KU, thank you for taking such good care of us, bringing us to the best food spots here in Jakarta, Indonesia, and supporting me all the way to the finals. Thank you.

"To my family, friends, sponsors, and fans all over the world, thank you for believing in me. I could not have done this without every single one of you. This victory belongs to all of us.

"The journey continues. Next stop: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

"Time to defend my title at the Asian Pool Championship. I am ready to give my very best once again and proudly represent the Philippines.

"See you all in Vietnam. Let’s keep raising the Philippine flag high,” Biado posted on his Facebook page, Carlo Biado World Champs TV. — Marlon Bernardino —
