Tellez vs. Castaneda 8-round showdown featured on “Night of Champions XIII” at WBA Convention, streaming live on Boxlab’s YouTube channel

ORLANDO, FL (December 8, 2025) – Boxlab Promotions’ super welterweight contender, Yoenis “El Bandolero” Tellez (10-1, 7 KOs), currently ranked WBA #4, is locked in and ready to return to the ring with a statement performance against battle-tested veteran Kendo Castaneda (21-12, 9 KOs). The scheduled 8-round bout will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, as part of the highly anticipated “Night of Champions XIII” event live from the world-renowned Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida, during the 104th Annual World Boxing Association (WBA) Convention. All the action will stream globally on Boxlab’s official YouTube channel.

Tellez, a contender with explosive power and Cuban pedigree, is eager to get back in the win column after suffering the first loss of his professional career—a moment he says has only fueled his motivation. “This camp has been about growth and focus,” said Tellez, who is co-promoted with Warriors Boxing. “After the loss, I went straight back to work with my team. We studied, we sharpened, and we pushed harder than ever. I’ve turned the setback into fuel. This version of me is smarter, hungrier, and more dangerous.”

Tellez made it clear he’s not overlooking the veteran, Kendo Castaneda. “Kendo is experienced and unpredictable. He’s fought a lot of good fighters, and I’m taking this fight very seriously. But I’m coming in with a chip on my shoulder. This fight is about proving to myself—and to everyone else—that I’m still one of the best young fighters in this division. A win here puts me right back on track. It’s not just about numbers or rankings—it’s about momentum, confidence, and showing that one loss doesn’t define me. I’m here to take back control of my career, not retreat.”

Tellez expressed his pride and motivation on the opportunity to fight during the 104th WBA Convention. “It’s an honor to be part of such a major event in boxing,” Tellez concluded. “Fighting at the WBA Convention, with legends and champions in the building—it adds extra motivation. I want everyone watching to see that I belong on this stage and in this sport’s future.”

Amaury Piedra, President of Boxlab Promotions, expressed his confidence in Tellez as he works to rebound and rise again. “Tellez still has everything it takes to become a world champion. Setbacks are part of the journey, but it’s how you respond that defines you—and I know he’s more motivated than ever. A win in this fight puts him right back in the mix for a world title. We believe in his talent, his drive, and his heart. With the right performance, the big opportunities will come. We’re proud to stand behind him.”

Night of Champions XIII, presented by Boxlab Promotions, is a centerpiece event of the 104th WBA Convention, showcasing top contenders and emerging stars in front of global media, industry leaders, and boxing royalty. The 12-round main event will feature undefeated Cuban standout Kevin “Alfa” Brown (8-0, 3 KOs) against the battle-tested knockout artist Cletus “Hebrew Hammer” Seldin (29-1, 23 KOs) for the WBA Super Lightweight Interim World Title.
